Intern - Legal Eval Engineer(Part-time)
We are fast-moving, highly ambitious, love shipping, and deeply care for our users. At Legora, you won’t only experience the future, but you’ll get to dictate it.
About us
At Legora, we’re on a mission to transform the way lawyers work. Our AI-native platform lets legal professionals enhance their productivity and automate complex workflows. We collaborate closely with our clients and iterate at a market-leading pace. In a year, we have gone from an early MVP to tools used daily by thousands of lawyers, and are now scaling rapidly. We are here to win together with our team and clients, and carry the belief that life is too short not to accomplish something truly special.
You are joining an early-stage scale-up with exceptional product-market fit, trusted by global leaders like Cleary Gottlieb, Goodwin and Bird & Bird. Backed by over $110M in funding from top investors including ICONIQ, General Catalyst, Benchmark, Redpoint, and Y Combinator. And a world-class team from Google, Klarna, Spotify, Slack, and top tier consulting and law firms with infinite room to grow professionally.
The role
At Legora, we’re on a mission to transform how lawyers work through AI-native tools that supercharge legal workflows. As our platform scales rapidly, we’re building a world-class evaluation function to ensure the performance, reliability, and integrity of our product matches our ambition.
We’re looking for an exceptional Legal Eval Engineer to help build the backbone of our evaluation engine for legal AI. Your primary responsibility will be to design and build legal evaluation cases: drafting legal scenarios, creating gold-standard outputs, and defining how we measure whether an AI system is performing at the level lawyers expect. You’ll ensure that our AI is tested against the realities of legal work, from contracts to research to drafting, and that evaluation results translate into meaningful product improvements.
What you will be doing:
You’ll dive into the practical side of how we measure legal AI. That means:
- Evaluating performance on core legal tasks like contract review, research, and drafting.
- Evaluating what “good” means in AI for lawyers, and testing where the edge cases break.
- Working with legal engineers, lawyers, and product to translate evaluation results into real improvements.
- Writing clear, accessible summaries of insights for both legal and technical teams.
Who you are
- Background in law + interest/skills in technology, data, and/or product.
- Practical experience with legal review and research processes, particularly in contract review.
- Comfort navigating both legal reasoning and technical conversations.
- Strong communication skills to bridge legal and non-legal worlds.
- Curiosity and creativity to push how legal AI gets evaluated.
- Commitment: 50% role (ideal for a law student or legal intern with a tech focus).
- Location: In-office.
- Schedule: Flexible, but set in advance on a weekly or monthly basis to ensure smooth collaboration
